PostcodeGuard
by Sellershub.ioGetting started with PostcodeGuard
Development preview: the sandbox is available for testing. Rules are not connected to live Shopify checkout yet.
1. Open the sandbox
Open the preview using Explore the sandbox. Its rules do not affect a Shopify checkout. Use fictional orders and test details.
2. Create a named region
Enter a useful name such as Northern Ireland or Highlands. Select the destination country. For UK addresses, including BT postcodes, choose United Kingdom (GB). Enter your own postcode coverage rather than assuming the example region names define geographic boundaries.
3. Choose how postcodes match
Use Exact for full postcodes, Prefix for starting characters such as BT, or District for an outward UK district such as PO3. Separate entries using the input format shown in the form. PO3 as a prefix also includes PO30; use district matching when you need just PO3.
4. Use postcode suggestions if useful
Type a few letters in Find a postcode and select a result. Suggestions cover live Great Britain postcodes only. Full suggestions belong in an exact-match GB region. Enter BT and other unsupported suggestion coverage manually.
5. Choose a restriction
Choose a block or an order limit and write a clear customer message. For value limits, select the correct currency and enter the maximum. The maximum is inclusive, and quantities refer to the whole order. Add exact exceptions when necessary.
6. Save and test the rule
New rules start disabled. Save the region, enable it for sandbox testing and use the delivery decision tester. Try a postcode inside the region, one outside it and each exception. Test overlapping rules as well as missing postcode information.
7. Test limits and phone settings
For each quantity or value limit, test just below, exactly at and above the maximum. If requiring a shipping phone, test both blank and populated phone fields. A populated field is not proof of a valid mobile number.
8. Select postcodes from uploaded map points
Prepare a CSV with postcode, latitude, longitude, country headers. Use decimal coordinates and two-letter country codes. Upload no more than 20,000 rows or 5 MB. Drag a rectangle, review the selected points and copy one country at a time to an exact-match region. Your selected area includes only points present in your file.
9. Export a backup
Export the rules JSON and keep it safely. Import it to restore the configuration in another preview browser. Review imported regions before enabling them. Clearing browser storage can remove your preview configuration.
10. Understand the live-installation status
Shopify authentication, merchant settings storage, checkout Functions and subscription billing are still under development. Saving or enabling a sandbox rule does not publish it to Shopify. Instructions for connecting and activating the finished app will be added after live checkout testing.
